Good morning, brothers and sisters.
Our verse for today comes from Acts 7:53, “You who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.”
People are getting very familiar these days with letters and organizations that they previously knew nothing about or paid very little attention to. Letters like COVID and Wuhan and pandemic, and organizations like the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) fill the news reports that are at every turn. And the latest update seems to always be only that, the latest. Nothing about any of this seems to be final or conclusive. What you hear this morning will be topped later this afternoon. If a state or a country reports certain things today, it’s certain that another state or country will go one further tomorrow. Locally, our most recent update included the closing of city park playgrounds and park restrooms, and most hospitals have disallowed any visitors of patients except for a very few exceptions, and those allowed must be screened before they enter the facilities. When these announcements are made, they carry with them the weight of importance. The authorities issuing them are exercising their responsibilities to serve and protect the people, and we citizens have been quick to respond in abeyance, valuing our health and the health of those around us.
In our spiritual lives, we have also been given announcements that carry a weight of importance. They, too, come from authority intent on providing the utmost care and concern for the people. But these declarations are not the latest and greatest. They are not based on supposition and uncertainty. They are not being updated as reports come in from around the globe. They are not being tweaked and amended to try and deal with the current state and what may be tomorrow. No, our communication is from the Creator of the Universe, and it includes His unmatched and unchanging wisdom. It expresses His immeasurable love and has the power to transform lives and rescue souls for eternity. So, don’t be as others have been who disregard what God has said. Lean on Him and His Word in these ever-changing times. He and His words need no updating.
As we seek Him today, thank God for being in control of your life and the world around you.
Have a lovely Monday.
