Good morning, brothers and sisters.

Our verse for today comes from Acts 3:18, “But what God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.”

There is an option in the smartphones that most of us have where you can turn on alerts to notify you of certain things. One of those alerts is for threatening weather conditions. And if you lived around here and had yours turned on yesterday, then your phone was quite busy throughout the morning. But thirty years ago, in the fall of 1988, we didn’t have real-time alerts going off in our pockets. If we had, maybe the little boy living a few houses down from us would still be alive today. For around 1am that night, a tornado came through and destroyed his home and took his life. The television weather reports had warned of dangerous storms throughout the evening, but by one o’clock, most were tucked in unawares. Had a phone been nearby to further warn those in the potential path of the twister, things might have been different. Yesterday, the tv reports once again broadcast their respective warnings. This time, the phone alerts were there to keep updating as conditions changed and the storm moved. Fortunately, this storm was much smaller and less severe than three decades ago. And, those who heeded their weather alerts saw firsthand how valuable that information can be. What they warned of was no mirage. The snapped trees and mangled buildings can attest to that.

Some things are predicted and foretold and never materialize. Sometimes, even the exact opposite occurs. But sometimes the forecast, the prophecy, is dead on. With God, such is always the case. Sometimes He speaks of many millennia into the future, and sometimes He speaks of what is waiting just around the corner. Our role is to heed what He says and respond accordingly. Death is certain. Judgment awaits. Are you prepared? Sin has consequences. Are they worth it? Having a relationship with Jesus brings great blessings. Do you have that? Repentance brings forgiveness and renewal. Is that a reality in your life? Don’t become numb to the warnings and pleadings and beckoning that Jesus sends your way. His alerts are real, and for real. Let Him fulfill all of His wonder in a blessed union with you.

As we seek Him today, take notice of what He has already said, and go to Him in total dependence and expectation.

Have a beautiful Tuesday.
