Good morning, friends.

Our verse for today comes from Acts 2:15, “For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.”

In three hours’ time, you could roast a large turkey. Likewise, you should be able to charge your phone all the way to 100% in three hours. Travelers can start their journey in New York and touch down in Miami a mere three hours later. Juries have deliberated and returned a verdict for crimes as serious as murder in that same amount of time. Even for the least handy of us, you could install a ceiling fan in about three hours. An average reader could knock out a 180-page book in three hours, and a life could be saved by means of a kidney transplant surgery in that same time span. Needless to say, much can go on in the amount of time that passes from finishing breakfast to getting your lunch. Unfortunately, we know that much bad can take place just as quickly as good can. If a bank robbery can take a little as five minutes, then thirty or so banks could be victimized in three hours. The Titanic struck the iceberg and completely disappeared from sight in just under three hours. On Pentecost, the disciples managed to learn a foreign language during those morning hours, and their accomplishments caught the eyes and ears of those outside. Of course, God intervened and used a miracle to kickstart His church, but He could have chosen a different method or a different amount of time. But He didn’t.

All of this chatter is really just a long way to get you to consider how you might spend three hours one day. A sporting event can take that long, as can a shopping trip. Three hours of yardwork or housecleaning can be a complete dread. When you feel like you have the time to use at your discretion, giving up three hours can seem like an eternity, while three hours of fun at the beach would fly by in seconds. Coincidentally, these devotions are scheduled to be sent out at the third hour of the day, so in reading this, you have reached the time where worlds could have been changed by now. Yours still awaits, and perhaps a certain three hours will go differently than they have in the past.

As we seek Him today, try juggling your time allotment so that you and your day look a little different when it’s done.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.
